Motorcyclist escapes with minor injuries after early morning crash in Swanzey

/Swanzey Police Department

SWANZEY, N.H. (MyKeeneNow) – A motorcyclist sustained minor injuries early Friday morning after swerving off Old Homestead Highway and plunging into Martin Brook, according to the Swanzey Fire Department.

The incident occurred around 6:30 a.m. at the intersection of Old Homestead Highway and Blake Road. The motorcyclist, who has not been named, reportedly veered off the road to avoid an animal. The foggy conditions at the time made the road slick, contributing to the crash.

As the motorcyclist navigated a curve, he encountered the animal and attempted to swerve, crossing into the opposite lane before crashing into the brook.  The rider managed to swim to shore and call for help.

A post on the Swanzey Fire Department’s Facebook page detailed the response, noting that a diver and a tow operator worked together to retrieve the motorcycle from the brook. Fortunately, there were no hazardous leaks from the vehicle.
